Pathways to holistic support

We’re privileged to partner with local organisations, and with services across health and social care.

Our partnerships bring together a range of experience and expertise, to help improve accessibility, and to provide you with the care and support you need.

On this page you’ll find information about our partnerships and how you or someone you know could benefit.

Age UK Portsmouth Logo.png

Age UK Portsmouth

We are partnered with Age UK Portsmouth to provide therapy to vulnerable and isolated older people.

Older adults can be fearful about accessing services in unfamiliar settings, and they may not be comfortable making a referral on the phone or using the internet. The aim of the partnership is to offer support to older adults in a familiar location, a location they're used to visiting, and by first speaking to someone they already trust.

We are pleased to offer therapy to older adults in a private room at The Bradbury Centre. For more information and to arrange an appointment, speak with our colleagues at Age UK Portsmouth.

Positive Minds Logo.png

Positive Minds

Positive Minds is a drop-in centre that offers hope and support for people struggling to cope with difficulties and distress.

We are here to help you, if you are in despair about anything – such as housing, money, relationships, work, bereavement, leaving the armed forces or living away from home at university – or suffering low mood, anxiety, or a feeling of hopelessness.

We aim to deliver realtime advice and support to each person, ensuring they have an opportunity to be heard as they describe their difficulties and circumstances. We formulate a practical care plan to help people on their recovery journey, which may include therapy.

You can book in advance if you would like to, but no appointment is necessary – you can just drop in to talk to us. We have lived through difficulties ourselves, and can relate to how you are feeling.

We are partnered with Solent Mind, NHS Portsmouth CCG, Portsmouth City Council and voluntary organisations to offer Positive Minds.

Location
You can find Positive Minds at PO5 4BG – on Melbourne Place just off Middle Street, about 50 yards south of Winston Churchill Avenue.

We visit students at the university to provide them with:

  • an initial assessment

  • a range of wellbeing workshops

  • the Stress to Success course

Students are referred by our colleagues from the Wellbeing Service. For more information about student wellbeing support, please contact the Wellbeing Service:

We accept self-referrals, in addition to referrals made by health visitors and midwifes.

Solent Recovery College Logo.png

Solent Recovery College

The Solent Recovery College offers you the opportunity to learn about recovery through a unique range of courses. The courses can help you become an expert in managing your own mental health, and empower you to take control of your recovery journey or support someone else.

The courses aren’t therapy; they’re an opportunity to learn new skills in an educational environment. Taught in a classroom setting along with an additional digital offering, students can learn practical skills for living with on-going symptoms, and learn how to get the best from mental health services in a safe and confidential space.

All of the courses are designed in partnership with Peer Trainers from Solent Mind, and with support from the University of Portsmouth, allowing those with lived experience of a mental health issue to share their experiences and skills side-by-side with mental health professionals.

For more information about the courses offered, please click here.
